Interview with Jordi Kuragari

Interview with Jordi Kuragari
rock Berlin

Hello
Alan - Thanks for being able to make a interwiev for our medium.
Jordi - Well thank you very much for having me.

Alan - Who are you and who answers questions?
Jordi - My name is Jordi Kuragari, I am a musician and producer and composer from Berlin. I play guitar, and I sing and do a lot of other instruments as well.

Alan - How many times were u playing in Czech republic?
Jordi - Sadly, so far I haven’t played in the Czech republic, but since I have some family background around here, I would love to play at the czeck republic, and in general would like to pay a visit to this country.

Alan - Where can we check you out?
Jordi - Well, of course you can check out my homepage, which is jordikuragari.de. There is also my facebook-page, and there is youtube, and there are many many other places like itunes, where you can here my music or watch my videos.

Alan - When someone would have interest in your concerts in Czech Republic, where they can hit you out?
Jordi - There is of course my homepage, which is jordikuragari.de. And there is my facebook-page, which is /jordikuragari.official. And in this fb-page I also have a fb-group, which is made for the purpose of organizing concerts and getting in contact with local fans. And if you want me to play in your region or a certain venue, you can join this page and request a concert in your area, and help me to get in contact with all the people necessary to do that. And of course, there is Klaus Strack Booking, who helps me with booking.

Alan - Whats your last album, and what are you planing to do?
Jordi - My last album was my first album, which was called “traveller”, which I released in 2012. I have released a new single in 2016 called “why wait”, which is still the titletrack for my new album. I am currently looking to find a good label to release it, so it hasn’t been released but it’s finished, and I can’t wait to release it. I am currently working on new material, which might be released in a year or two, if I can find the right label to realese my current album.

Alan - Where in Czech was the best city to play, and why?
Jordi - Since I haven’t been to the Czech republic since I was I think five or six years old, I have no idea where to play, except of course for Prague, which is the obvious choice. But I’m very interesed and very open to learn more about good places, good venues and interesting people.

Alan - Do you have any favourite festival?
Jordi - I don’t really have a favorite festival. I’ve played at the Babimost-Festival a few years back in Poland, which was a lot of fun and very nice people and a nice area also. And I would be open to play at any interesting festival.

Alan - And in foreign countries? do you have any favourite festival or club?
Jordi - An area which I would be very interested in playing would be Amsterdam. The problem is there aren’t that many available venue who easily book. There is a very interesting open-air-venue at the Vondelpark, the Openluchttheater. That would be amazing to be playing there. As I said, I am always interested and open to play at any place.

Alan - Do you know any czech musicians or bands?
Jordi - I’ve been wrecking my brain, but ... to be honest I can’t really think of any czech musician that I really know. I probably heard some before, but I’m not really good with names, or with putting people into certain regions. So, not really, no.
But you can (all) recommend something for me, I would be very interested in hearing that.

Alan - Would you mind to cooperate with any czech interpert, and if yes with who?
Jordi - Yeah, very much of course, I’m always interested in collaboration or in working for somebody, or with somebody, or having somebody work on my music. So, as I said, I’m also producing and recording in my own studio in Berlin, I’m always open to work with other musicians on whatever level. So: yeah, very much.
A while ago, I heard about an organisation called Anti-Komplex (I think) which is in Prague, which endevours to bring the offspring of former germans in the czech republic, the Sudeten, together with czech musicians, or generally young people from that area. And since I have a grandmother who also fled the czech republic after the war, it would be very interesting to get in contact with people from the czeck republic, and trying to bring our people back together.

Alan - You are a long time on a scene. Do you have any unfulfilled musician dream?
Jordi - Oh, I have too many unfulfilled dreams, which I would love to explore. I think the most interesting or most challenging ones would be to actually work with an orchestra live, because I have a lot of music which includes classical instruments, and for the new album I actually had a string-quartett. But it would be interesting to actually work on orchestration and have like a whole orchestra play along with my band. Which is probably related to the other I would really love to do, which is writing and composing and producing soundtracks, especially for some japanese animation, but in general to work on film-scores, which is something that I’m very interested in.

Alan - What 3 songs do people wanna hear on koncerts? and what is your opinion?
Jordi - From what I hear, the most popular tracks of mine are probably “bounced” and “just like a puppet” from my first album, as well as “why wait” from the new album. Those are probably some of my strong songs, and certainly the ones who are most popular, together maybe with “what are you thinking”, also from the first album.

Alan - What is your favourite 3 songs from you?
Jordi - My personal favourites are a bit harder to define, because I have such a wide variety of songs, and currently I would probably pick three from my new album. Which would be “why wait”, and “hedgehog’s dilemma” (there is a video from that on youtube), and a song called “can’t tell” from the new album.

Alan - What do you wanna say to your fans in czech republic?
Jordi - Well, first of all, I would like to thank them very much for all their support. And please check out the new videos. I have recently recorded a couple of songs with my band, and videoed them also. And we are releasing them one by one over the course of several months. Also I would very much apreciate any likes or comments, and of course please sign up to my fb-group about concerts. And I really hope we will see each other soon.
