35 years for free: Danube Island Festival 2018 announces varied music, action and fun program for the 35th anniversary!
Every year, Europe's largest open-air festival with free admission attracts up to three million visitors. To celebrate its 35th anniversary, the Danube Island Festival from 22 to 24 June 2018 will offer a mix of around 200 international and national music acts, innovative leisure activities, sporting attractions, culinary delights and a wide variety of cultural delights for young and old alike
(Vienna/Austria) From 22nd to 24th June 2018 everything will again focus on music, culture, information, party and action for three days, when the Danube Island Festival, which is organised annually by the SPÖ Vienna, celebrates its 35th anniversary on its eleven stages and 18 theme islands. Portugal.The Man, Antilopen Gang, Voodoo Jürgens & Haberer, Lisa Stansfield, Gert Steinbäcker, Wanda, Nico Santos, Zonderling, Fedde le Grand, Münchener Freiheit or Petra Frey are waiting for visitors on the 4.5-kilometre-long festival grounds for 600 hours of exciting concert experiences.
On Thursday morning, SPÖ Vienna state party secretary Barbara Novak and DIF project manager Thomas Waldner presented the varied programme of the festival summer highlight for sports fans, culture enthusiasts and the whole family in the presence of the artists Gabriela Horn (PAENDA), Ulrike Koller (Die Mayerin), Clemens Reinsperger (Die Wilden Kaiser), Gary Lux, Andreas Steppan and Elisabeth Engstler at the Vienna summer stage.
"A festival for all, three days, with free admission - that is our claim as SPÖ Vienna to the Danube Island Festival 2018, in accordance with the values of the city and the values of the SPÖ, which will also be clearly demonstrated at this year's Danube Island Festival: Freedom, equality, justice and solidarity. Therefore, there will again be the Social Business Full Access to provide an inclusive festival experience for physically handicapped people. We attach great importance to the fact that the festival is accessible to all people. Women's safety will be a major focus this year. Because we are aware that you have to pay particular attention to this at major events. Therefore we will cooperate even more intensively with the Viennese police. Thanks to the helpers: Europe's largest open-air festival is only possible because of the committed organisers, the countless volunteers and cooperation partners. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their tireless commitment and passionate dedication," explains Novak.

Stadtimpuls Pop-up creativity market
From Friday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. it will again be colourful, committed and sustainable at the Danube Island Festival: around 20 young Austrian designers, artists, producers and start-ups will present their innovative and original products at the Stadtimpuls Pop-up Creative Market on "Bank Austria Insel". The spectrum ranges from re- and upcycled bags in large and small formats to home decorations, jewellery and sunglasses. All products are sustainable and handmade and can be purchased locally.
DMAX Austria Action & Fun Insel
WM-Public Viewing at Coca-Cola fan area
On the "DMAX Austria Action & Fun Insel", football-loving island fans can watch three group matches of the FIFA World Cup 2018 every day on a large LED wall in the cosy chill zone with a wide variety of restaurants. From Friday to Sunday three group matches will be broadcasted at 2 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm.
Raiffeisen/Eskimo Bagjump
The Bagjump has become an institution and attracts adrenalin junkies and spectators every year to the "DMAX Austria Action & Fun Island". The brave have the chance to prove their skills by jumping from the seven or ten meter high jumping platform into an inflatable cushion and to practice many sports like freedomrop, snowboard, ski, bikes and FMX. Participation is free of charge and registration takes place directly on site.

Eurowings Stage-Flying
For the second time Eurowings presents itself as "Official Air Carrier" of the Danube Island Festival and lets its passengers take off on the "ÖBB/VIVA Electronic Music Island": With the "Eurowings Stage-Flying", an oversized Flying-Fox, brave 160 meters fly over the party crowd on a rope before landing next to the backstage area of the spark7/ KRONEHIT Electronic Music stage. Night flights over the illuminated island promise a special memory of the anniversary celebration.
The free flight experience can be booked either online in advance via the web check-in or directly on site. Departures take place daily between 2 pm and midnight. This year Eskimo presents itself exclusively on the "Eskimo/okidoki Kinderfreunde Insel" and will make children's hearts beat faster with a colourful activity programme of bouncy castle, puppet stage, play bus, children's make-up, play tent, Hasbro board games, Play-Doh kneading fun, STABILO paint corner, ANKER Kinderbackstube and PLAYMAIS games corner. On the ESKIMO fun tour on the show stage, songwriter Bernhard Fibich and Robert Steiner at the Hasbro game show will create an exuberant atmosphere for young and old alike. New at it: Kiddy Dance with the "arriOla Tanz Studio" and "Center of Motion".

Gastronomy for every taste
Every year the organizers pay great attention to the culinary well-being of the festival visitors. This year, the Interspar Foodtruck at the U6/railway bridge is a completely new addition to the range, offering delicious street food for the quick appetite. Radatz, a long-standing partner of the Danube Island Festival, is once again making a major contribution to the "Wien Energie/Radio Wien/HITRADIO Ö3 Festinsel" with the Airstreamer wheel set.

Juni 2018 dreht sich wieder drei Tage lang alles um Musik, Kultur, Information, Party und Action, wenn das Donauinselfest, das alljährlich von der SPÖ Wien veranstaltet wird, sein 35jähriges Bestehen auf seinen elf Bühnen und 18 Themeninseln feiert. Die BesucherInnen erwarten auf dem 4,5 Kilometer langen Festgelände 600 Stunden Programm von mitreißenden Konzerterlebnissen mit Portugal.The Man, Antilopen Gang, Voodoo Jürgens & Haberer, Lisa Stansfield, Gert Steinbäcker, Wanda, Nico Santos, Zonderling, Fedde le Grand, Münchener Freiheit oder Petra Frey über vielfältiges Freizeitvergnügen bis hin zu Kulturgenuss der Extraklasse und das bei freiem Eintritt seit 35 Jahren.
Donnerstagvormittag stellten SPÖ Wien-Landesparteisekretärin Barbara Novak und DIF-Projektleiter Thomas Waldner das abwechslungsreiche Programm des Festival-Sommer-Highlights für Sportfans, Kulturbegeisterte und die ganze Familie in Anwesenheit der KünstlerInnen Gabriela Horn (PAENDA), Ulrike Koller (Die Mayerin), Clemens Reinsperger (Die Wilden Kaiser), Gary Lux, Andreas Steppan und Elisabeth Engstler auf der Wiener Summerstage, vor.
“Ein Fest für alle, drei Tage lang, bei freiem Eintritt - das ist unser Anspruch als SPÖ Wien an das Donauinselfest 2018. Ganz nach den Werten der Stadt und den Werten der SPÖ, die sich auch beim diesjährigen Donauinselfest klar zeigen: Freiheit, Gleichheit, Gerechtigkeit und Solidarität. Deshalb wird es wieder das Social Business Full Access geben, um ein inklusives Festivalerlebnis für körperlich behinderte Menschen zu ermöglichen. Wir legen nämlich besonders großen Wert darauf, dass das Festival für alle Menschen zugänglich ist. Ein großer Schwerpunkt wird dieses Jahr die Frauensicherheit sein. Denn uns ist bewusst, dass man gerade auf Großveranstaltungen besonders sensibel darauf achten muss. Daher werden wir noch intensiver mit der Wiener Polizei zusammenarbeiten. Die Bandbreite reicht dabei von re- und upgecycelten Taschen in groß und kleinen Formaten über Heimdekoartikel und Schmuck bis hin zu Sonnenbrillen. Alle Produkte sind nachhaltig und handfertigt und können vor Ort gekauft werden.

WM-Public Viewing in der Coca-Cola Fanzone
Auf der „DMAX Austria Action & Fun Insel“ können fußballaffine Inselfans täglich drei Gruppenspiele der FIFA Fußball-WM 2018 auf einer großen LED-Wall in der gemütlichen Chillzone bei einem vielfältigen Gastronomieangebot mitverfolgen. Von Freitag bis Sonntag werden jeweils drei Gruppenspiele um 14.00, 17.00 und 20.00 Uhr übertragen.

Der Bagjump ist mittlerweile eine Institution und lockt jedes Jahr Adrenalinjunkies und Zuschauer in Scharen auf die „DMAX Austria Action & Fun Insel“. Mutige haben hier die Chance ihr Können bei einem Sprung von der sieben oder zehn Meter hohen Absprungplattform in ein aufblasbares Kissen unter Beweis zu stellen und auch gleich für viele Sportarten wie Freedrop, Snowboard, Ski, Bikes und FMX zu üben. Zum zweiten Mal präsentiert sich Eurowings als „Official Air Carrier“ des Donauinselfests und lässt seine Fluggäste auf der „ÖBB/VIVA Electronic Music Insel“ abheben: Mit dem „Eurowings Stage-Flying“, einem überdimensionalen Flying-Fox, fliegen Mutige 160 Meter am Seil über die Partycrowd, bevor sie neben dem Backstage Bereich der spark7/ KRONEHIT Electronic Music Bühne landen. Nachtflüge über die beleuchtete Insel versprechen eine besondere Erinnerung an das Jubiläumsfest.

Bei der ESKIMO Spaß-Tour auf der Showbühne wird Kinderliedermacher Bernhard Fibich sowie Robert Steiner bei der Hasbro-Spieleshow für ausgelassene Stimmung bei Groß und Klein sorgen. Die Donauinselfest App fürs Smartphone ist auch 2018 wieder dabei. Die Inhalte werden offline synchronisiert und Änderungen des Contents sind möglich. Die Programmpunkte sind in Detailansicht verfügbar und werden bei Änderungen automatisch aktualisiert.
Gastronomieangebot für jeden Geschmack
Großes Augenmerk legen die VeranstalterInnen jedes Jahr auf das kulinarische Wohl der FestivalbesucherInnen. Ganz neu dabei ist heuer der Interspar Foodtruck bei der U6/Schnellbahnbrücke, der köstliches Street Food für den schnellen Hunger bereit hält. Auch der langjährige Donauinselfestpartner Radatz mischt auf der „Wien Energie/Radio Wien/HITRADIO Ö3 Festinsel“ mit dem Radatz Airstreamer wieder kräftig mit.

Donauinselfest 2018
Das Wiener Donauinselfest wird von der SPÖ Wien veranstaltet und ist das größte Open-Air-Festival in Europa mit freiem Eintritt. Von 22. bis 24. Juni 2018 wird es ein hochkarätiges Musik-, Action- und Fun-Programm bieten. Die BesucherInnen erwarten über 600 Stunden Programm auf elf Bühnen und 18 Themeninseln. Das Donauinselfest ist seit 35 Jahren eine kulturelle Visitenkarte für das pulsierende, weltoffene und zukunftsorientierte Wien.
